Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tussey Mountain). They blew past the Southern Fulton Indians, posting a 71-37 victory. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.
Tussey Mountain found their leader in sophomore Karah Husick, who went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points and six steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Husick. Another player making a difference was Aubree Weaver, who posted 12 points and six assists.
Tussey Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Fulton only pulled down seven offensive boards.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Claire Harvey, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Harvey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sosefina Ah Loe, who had seven points and 11 boards.
Tussey Mountain pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Southern Fulton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tussey Mountain will head out to take on Southern Huntingdon County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southern Huntingdon County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Tussey Mountain likes a good challenge. As for Southern Fulton, they will venture away from home to challenge Everett at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
