The Coronado Thunderbirds lost against the Montwood Rams back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Coronado took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montwood. While losing is never fun, Coronado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 817th, while Montwood is ranked 365th).
Coronado lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Roberto Lopez, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Finn, who scored four points.
Coronado has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for Montwood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-12.
Coronado will look to defend their home court on Friday against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Coronado: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Franklin has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Montwood, they will take on Americas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
