Colton had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-9 to make it four. They lost 9-1 to the Carter Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on March 10th.
Colton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ulysses Rodriquez, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
As for Carter, they now have a winning record of 8-7. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
On Carter's side, Keith Lockhart was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lockhart has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Carter got a great performance from Ricardo Martinez as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. The Lions are undefeated when Martinez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Jacob Arcos was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joey Nunez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
While Colton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
