Even though the Fairfield Falcons have not done well against the Vacaville Bulldogs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Fairfield walked away with a 54-47 win over Vacaville. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Fairfield also won the last time the pair played on January 10th.
Mayana Williams was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was ZaRaya Porter, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Vacaville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lula Kifle, who scored 13 points. Kifle continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Collins, who scored 11 points.
Fairfield has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Vacaville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Fairfield will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Vanden at 7:30 p.m. Vanden is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Vacaville, they will face off against Armijo at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Armijo has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
