Shafter is 2-8 against Chavez since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Shafter Generals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chavez Titans at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Shafter will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Del Oro two weeks ago. Shafter blew past Del Oro 16-1. The match marked the Generals' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Nini Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Garcia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Shafter let Alex Casanova-Balderrama and Joaquin Garza run wild. Casanova-Balderrama scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Garza scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Casanova-Balderrama a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Dustin Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Shafter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Chavez made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mira Monte on Tuesday. Chavez was the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over Mira Monte.
Emmanuel Segura and Benji Perez were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Segura didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Perez tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Segura has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Segura scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Perez scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jayden Popoy was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sixtos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
Shafter's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Chavez, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Shafter couldn't quite finish off Chavez in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Shafter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
