The Oaks Christian Lions will be playing at home against the Westlake Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oaks Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Oaks Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Coyotes on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Coyotes 76-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), Oaks Christian still had to take the loss.
Brooklyn Shamblin put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 30 points along with five rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Presley Kushner was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Westlake entered their tilt with the Panthers with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. Westlake blew past the Panthers 65-44. Westlake has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.
Westlake's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mathis Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 24 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dritz has scored at least a third of Westlake's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Swanson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Oaks Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Westlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Oaks Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Oaks Christian took a serious blow against the Warriors when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 65-28. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Oaks Christian was down 44-18.
