The Yreka Miners had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past Central Valley with a 46-41 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Yreka also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Yreka's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexes Collier led the charge by scoring 18 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Collier has scored at least a third of Yreka's points. Another player making a difference was Ali Avery, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Central Valley still got an impressive performance from Kylie Mason, who scored 20 points. Mason has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last three times she's played. Harley Wilson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Yreka's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-14. As for Central Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 17 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.
Yreka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Central Valley also has no future games currently scheduled.
