Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Nathaniel Perry and Alexander Davis Lead Matanzas to Victory

Matanzas won the last time they faced Deltona and things went their way on Monday too. The Matanzas Pirates took down the Deltona Wolves 64-48.

Matanzas was led to victory by Alexander Davis and Nathaniel Perry. Davis dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards, while Perry went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Davis is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was La'Darien Baker, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Deltona's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Al Pena, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clive Thompson, who had ten points.

Matanzas is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Deltona, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Matanzas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-36 win against Flagler Palm Coast on the 23rd. As for Deltona, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 93-86 defeat against New Smyrna Beach on the 21st.
