The Windsor Academy Knights and the Twiggs Academy Trojans will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Windsor Academy is hoping to put an end to a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Windsor Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 69-22 loss at the hands of Gatewood. Windsor Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-14.
Despite the defeat, Windsor Academy saw an underclassman step up: Audrey Dobson scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Twiggs Academy earned a 36-24 win over Central Georgia Arts back in December of 2023.
Twiggs Academy can attribute much of their success to Megan Favors, who scored seven points along with seven steals, and Mallory Nobles, who scored 14 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nobles has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madison Lavender, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Windsor Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Twiggs Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Monday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Windsor Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Twiggs Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 30.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Windsor Academy came up short against Twiggs Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 47-34. Can Windsor Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
