After a string of four wins, the Round Valley Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 56-46 to Point Arena. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Round Valley of the 62-58 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Round Valley still got an impressive performance from Ayla Hinman, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and four blocks. Hinman has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Josey Spurlock, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Round Valley's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Point Arena, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Round Valley will square off against Anderson Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Round Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Point Arena, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Laytonville at 5:30 p.m. Point Arena knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Laytonville likes a good challenge.
