The North Star Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Tussey Mountain on the road and fell 50-19. North Star has not had much luck with Tussey Mountain recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Tussey Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cara Benton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Karah Husick, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
North Star's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Tussey Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Star will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Meyersdale at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Tussey Mountain is on the road again on January 9, 2024 and play against Southern Huntingdon County at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
