On Saturday, Miami faced Phoenix Country Day in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Miami Vandals snuck past the Phoenix Country Day Eagles with a 54-49 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Vandals sure are getting used to it with their 15th in a row.

Leading Miami to victory were Tamia Pietila and Demetria Dosela. Pietila dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Dosela posted 18 points along with eight boards and four steals. The contest was Pietila's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Pietila, who earned six points and seven boards.

Miami smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Phoenix Country Day lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aila Kaibara, who had 15 points and three steals. Kaibara is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. Olivia Owens was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Miami's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.7 points per game. As for Phoenix Country Day, they moved to 17-5 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Miami didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-36 victory against Leading Edge Academy - GEC on the 21st. Phoenix Country Day has also already played their next contest, a 62-4 win against Santa Cruz Valley on the 21st.
