El Capitan barely beat Merced the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gauchos blew past the Bears 12-2 on Monday. The Gauchos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Angel Rivera, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Braylen Centeno also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: El Capitan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Merced only managed five hits.
El Capitan's record now sits at 15-9-1. As for Merced, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
