The Las Lomas Knights will face off against the Albany Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Las Lomas didn't have quite enough to beat Clayton Valley Charter and fell 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Ugly Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Alessandro Martinez-Cabrera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Andrew Misasi was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jack Pardella also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Albany had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 6-1.
Jude Hatamiya tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Magnus Williams and Willem Loveless did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Loveless scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Loveless has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston McGowen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Albany pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Las Lomas, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.
Las Lomas came out on top in a nail-biter against Albany in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will Las Lomas repeat their success, or does Albany has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
