Ellwood City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Claire Noble led the charge by scoring 20 points. The matchup was Noble's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Jones, who scored 18 points.
Mohawk Area's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Ellwood City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Mohawk Area will be playing in front of their home fans against Neshannock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neshannock has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 241 points over their last four games. As for Ellwood City, they will head out on the road to face off against Beaver Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beaver Falls presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ellwood City in Pennsylvania (Beaver Falls is ranked 118th, while Ellwood City is ranked 334th).
