Baseball Recap: Aquinas Wins Going Away Against Academy of Richmond County

Aquinas barely beat Academy of Richmond County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fightin' Irish were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Musketeers on Friday. Considering the Fightin' Irish have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

CJ Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of James Sherry, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Aquinas' win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Academy of Richmond County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Aquinas and Westside will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Academy of Richmond County, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hephzibah at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Musketeers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
