Softball Recap: Albany Wins Going Away Against Maysville

Albany never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Maysville Wolverines with a sharp 16-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Makena Moffat made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Albany let Marley Hansel and Kaitlyn Bunker run wild. Hansel went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Bunker went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Bunker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Sterkis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Albany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Albany's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Maysville, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Albany will look to defend their home field on Monday against East Buchanan at 5:00 p.m. As for Maysville, they will square off against Worth County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
