The American Canyon Wolves will take on the Justin-Siena Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
American Canyon managed to slip by Petaluma the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wolves came up short against the Trojans on Thursday, falling 18-1.
American Canyon got a good showing from Matias Garcia, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Garcia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, American Canyon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Royce Hall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Justin-Siena unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 10-4 to Casa Grande. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Braves, who until this game were averaging 2.73 runs allowed.
Jake Fletcher was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Xiano Ortega, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
American Canyon dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Justin-Siena, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. American Canyon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Justin-Siena struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
American Canyon skirted past Justin-Siena 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
