The Chartiers Valley Colts will venture away from home to face off against the Mars Fightin' Planets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Saturday, Chartiers Valley came up short against Southern and fell 54-46. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 280th in Pennsylvania, while the Rams are ranked 13th in Maryland).
Despite the loss, Chartiers Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyssa Davis went 7-for-17 to rack up 18 points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mars). They blew past New Castle 66-34 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Fightin' Planets as they're now sitting on three straight.
Chartiers Valley better keep an eye on Alexis Cashdollar. She was instrumental in Mars' win, shooting 50% from the field en route to 24 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals. The matchup was Cashdollar's sixth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karmella Vigliotti, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 16 points.
Mars smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Mars' record now sits at 5-7. As for Chartiers Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chartiers Valley has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mars struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Chartiers Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mars in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, but they still walked away with a 46-42 win. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fightin' Planets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
