Julian Tripp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Richard Paiz was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jose Barraza was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Valley beat Grant 7-3 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
The team relied heavily on Giovanni Carmona, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Erick Velasquez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Foothill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Foothill couldn't quite get it done against Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Will Foothill have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
