Del Mar is 5-0 against Gilroy since April of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Del Mar Dons will look to defend their home court against the Gilroy Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Del Mar has seven straight victories, Gilroy has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Del Mar has not done well against Live Oak recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Del Mar snuck past Live Oak with a 47-41 victory.
Arseama Kibrom was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Hinkle, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Gilroy suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Westmont by a score of 34-31.
Del Mar has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Gilroy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11.
Del Mar was able to grind out a solid victory over Gilroy in their previous matchup on January 9th, winning 50-39. Will Del Mar repeat their success, or does Gilroy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
