Lincoln and Gilroy are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Lions will challenge the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
While Lincoln's win against Prospect wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since May 8, 2025.
Lincoln got a great performance from Colton Draminski as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Draminski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lincoln saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Escobar, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Gilroy fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Leland on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 11-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 29, 2025.
Levi Guel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits.
This is the second loss in a row for Gilroy and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Gilroy struggles in that department as they've averaged .312. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Lincoln's way against Gilroy in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Lincoln made off with an 8-0 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
