The Winside Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 14th straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Stanton, falling 49-14. Winside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Hadleigh Schutt was Winside's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Stanton was led to victory by Rebecca Stoddard and Olivia Hupp. Stoddard scored 14 points along with two steals, while Hupp scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Skyler Siebrandt was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two blocks.
Winside dropped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.5 points per game. As for Stanton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Winside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stanton is on the road again on Thursday and plays Clarkson/Leigh at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Clarkson/Leigh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
