The Cloverdale Eagles will head out to challenge the Clear Lake Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cloverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Cloverdale was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Upper Lake on Friday. The Eagles never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cloverdale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Axell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Coby Haug also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Clear Lake and Fort Bragg meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Cardinals took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timberwolves. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Timberwolves: they've now lost six in a row.

Zane Mcauley and Jacob Horne did some serious damage despite the final result: Mcauley scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Horne scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Clear Lake's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Cloverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cloverdale has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Clear Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Cloverdale suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Clear Lake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
