The Salinas Cowboys won the last time they faced the Monterey Dores, and things went their way on Thursday too. Salinas snuck past Monterey with a 41-37 victory. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Salinas was led to victory by Alice Uchida and Andrea Nava. Uchida scored ten points, while Nava scored 11 points.
Several Dores players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeanine Williams, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Tiffany Nielsen, who scored seven points.
Salinas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Monterey, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salinas will take on Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Watsonville is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Monterey, they will head out on the road to square off against Hollister at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hollister will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
