The Central Bears won the last time they faced the Hernando Leopards, and things went their way on Friday too. Central walked away with a 58-49 victory over Hernando. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Hernando is ranked 529th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeroen "jd" Watson, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Watson is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Joyner, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Central's victory was their 18th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.1 points per game. As for Hernando, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Coincidentally, Central and Hernando will both be playing Weeki Wachee the next time they take the court. Central will head out to face Weeki Wachee at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Hernando will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
