West Potomac and Woodson are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2022, but not for long. The Wolverines will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, West Potomac came up short against West Springfield and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost six in a row.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-10, 24-26, 25-15.
If Robinson wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Woodson, they should've done a better job of containing Livia Lee. The Cavaliers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rams on Thursday for which the team can thank Lee, who had 12 digs and four aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games she's played.
Woodson walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-19, 23-25, 25-12, 25-19.
Woodson's win came from a few key players West Potomac will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sofie Ferrell, who hit 90% for nine kills and eight digs and five aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September. Lea Grant was another key player, getting seven digs and three aces.
Woodson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. They are 5-2 when they serve at least ten aces.
Woodson's win ended a seven-match drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11. As for West Potomac, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1.
Everything went West Potomac's way against Woodson in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as West Potomac made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
