Baseball Recap: Shaw Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northside, Shaw was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Hardaway Hawks as they made off with a 13-3 victory. Considering the Raiders have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kingston Long made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sincere Ford was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Shaw is 8-2 when Ford posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Deshaun Mays, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Shaw lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Shaw's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hardaway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

Shaw has already played their next match, a 14-5 defeat against Calvary Christian on the 10th. As for Hardaway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Carver on the 11th.
