Andover (Minn.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 19 in Minnesota, but was stunned by
Park Center (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), 16-7. Park Center was ranked at No. 152 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Minnesota coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a field goal in the second quarter, the Pirates were up 3-0 at the half.
Park Center grew its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. PC's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run.
The Brooklyn Park school was ahead by as much as 10 before the Huskies pulled closer.
Andover's lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run by
Derek McLaughlin in the fourth quarter.
The Pirates has struggled this season, allowing 33.5 points per game. However, Park Center's defense stepped up, holding Andover well below its season average of 28.7 points per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for PC, which lost to Osseo last week, 49-29. The loss was the third in a row for AHS.
Andover (4-3) will play a Northwest Suburban game against Robbinsdale Armstrong next week, while Park Center (2-5) will take on Elk River also in a Northwest Suburban game.
