Del Oro is 2-7 against Roseville since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Del Oro Golden Eagles will challenge the Roseville Tigers at 3:15 p.m. Del Oro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Roseville will be up against a hot Del Oro team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Del Oro had just enough and edged out Lincoln 7-5.
Broc McReynolds looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Carson Moore was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kael Lumbert, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Roseville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Vanden on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Austin Chang looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Gustus, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Welch, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Del Oro's record is now 3-1. As for Roseville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Roseville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Del Oro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Roseville, though, as they've only averaged .183. Will they be able to contain Del Oro's hitters?
Del Oro came up short against Roseville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Del Oro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
