Faith Sonnenberg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Molly Edwards was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Ellie Mitchell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
North Cobb Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The last time their OBP was this high was back in October of 2024.
Mount Vernon typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday King's Ridge Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Mustangs.
Kate Greiner and Katie Washer did most of the damage at the plate: Greiner went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Washer went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits Washer has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Emmie Fratesi, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
North Cobb Christian now has a winning record of 9-8. As for King's Ridge Christian, their record now sits at 10-6-1.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Cobb Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like King's Ridge Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Cobb Christian skirted past King's Ridge Christian 6-5 when the teams last played back in August. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
