The Overfelt Royals will head out on the road to face off against the Newark Memorial Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Overfelt is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Saturday, Overfelt had to suffer through a rough 71-16 loss at the hands of Leigh. While losing is never fun, Overfelt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1149th, while Leigh is ranked 526th).
Meanwhile, Newark Memorial scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Mt. Pleasant 74-25 at home. Considering Newark Memorial has won three games by more than 33 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Newark Memorial can attribute much of their success to Angelina Baca, who scored 17 points, and Sydney Scott, who scored 20 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Chalov, who scored six points.
Overfelt bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Newark Memorial, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Overfelt was taken down by Newark Memorial 77-19 when the teams last played back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Overfelt was down 41-9.
