Baseball Recap: River Islands' Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After flying high against Stockton Christian last Tuesday, River Islands came back down to earth. The River Islands Riptide fell just short of the Lathrop Spartans by a score of 10-9 on Friday. The Riptide's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

River Islands saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Lopez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

River Islands' defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Lathrop, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Islands will venture away from home to square off against Delta at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lathrop, they are taking a road trip to challenge Grace Davis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Davis will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Lathrop surely won't give up without a fight.
