It was a good run, but the Sabino Sabercats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 74-55 to Desert Vista. While losing is never fun, Sabino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Desert Vista is ranked 36th).
Despite the defeat, Sabino had strong showings from Caden Watkins, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds, and Spencer Larson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Larson is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Gargus, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Sabino's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Desert Vista, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Sabino and Pueblo will face off at 11:10 a.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pueblo is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Desert Vista and Buena will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Buena's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
