The Chester Volcanoes waltzed into their match Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They snuck past Burney with a 42-38 win. That's another feather in the cap for Chester, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Burney lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexis Witzel, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Witzel's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Perez, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Chester's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Burney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
Chester will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Loyalton at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. Burney will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Surprise Valley at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
