The Davis Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 50-33 fall against Lincoln. While losing is never fun, Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while Lincoln is ranked 51st).
Loss or not, Davis got some senior leadership from Jiana Trotman who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals and Tessa Schouten who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Lincoln had a senior duo take command as Brelynn Brice dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds and Amya Vangkham-Griffin scored 18 points along with five steals. Brice is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Baquiran, who scored four points along with five steals.
Davis' defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Lincoln, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Davis won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Liberty Ranch at 3:30 p.m. on December 15th. Averaging 55.3 so far this season, Liberty Ranch's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Davis better be ready for a challenge. Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rocklin at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Rocklin is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
