The Meyersdale Red Raiders suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Southern Fulton 54-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Meyersdale has suffered against Southern Fulton since February 14, 2019.
Despite the loss, Meyersdale still got an impressive performance from Izabella Donaldson, who scored six points. Madison Berkley was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
Southern Fulton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sandra Stotler, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Stotler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Harvey, who scored 13 points along with six steals.
Meyersdale dropped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Southern Fulton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Meyersdale will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Shade at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. Shade is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Southern Fulton, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Northern Bedford County at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northern Bedford County comes in on four and Southern Fulton on three.
