The Sierra Vista Dons and the Liberty Bison squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Sierra Vista Dons had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 38-35. Sierra Vista's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Cailei Buna and Zaira Eulloque certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Buna scored 12 points along with five steals, while Eulloque scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That was a full 40% of Sierra Vista's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Liberty got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Enguillado out in front who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kelli Harris-Wellman, who scored ten points.
Sierra Vista's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-11. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Sierra Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-35 defeat vs. La Mirada on the 10th.
