Even though the Winters Warriors have not done well against the East Nicolaus Spartans recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Winters narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past East Nicolaus 50-47. The win was nothing new for Winters as they're now sitting on four straight.
Winters' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Dodic, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dodic has scored all season. Jordan Tucker was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
East Nicolaus' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Gillespie continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makinze Massey, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Winters has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for East Nicolaus, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
