The Arcadia Apaches are taking a road trip to challenge the West Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Arcadia 2.2, West 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Arcadia will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Glendale on Tuesday. The Apaches were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over the Nitros. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Owen Edwards made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Matt Manzo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jordan Vogel, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leo Peniche, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Arcadia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for West's offense. They fell just short of Palos Verdes by a score of 1-0 on Friday.
Joey Campbell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
West dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Arcadia, their record now sits at 14-2.
West's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arcadia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. It's a different story for West, though, as they've only averaged .317. Will they be able to contain Arcadia's hitters?
Arcadia couldn't quite get it done against West in their previous meeting back in March of 2016 as they fell 6-3. Can the Apaches avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
