The Ainsworth Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Sandhills/Thedford Knights, and things went their way on Friday too. Ainsworth walked away with a 56-47 victory over the Knights. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ainsworth.
Ainsworth got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Nelson out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine blocks. Nelson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Traegan McNally, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Ainsworth's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6. As for Sandhills/Thedford, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Ainsworth won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bison at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. McCook is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Sandhills/Thedford, they will head out on the road to face off against the Broncos on Tuesday. Mullen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Knights are ranked 86th).
