Riverview is 9-0 against Jeannette since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Riverview Raiders will be playing at home against the Jeannette Jayhawks at 12:00 p.m. Riverview will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Riverview gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past Monessen 50-25. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Riverview had established a 22 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabel Chaparro, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katerina Tsambis, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Riverview's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Blake Huffman got a bit more time on the court (26 vs. her season average of 8.47). Huffman made the most of the opportunity, scoring five points. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Even though Jeannette has not done well against Leechburg recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Jeannette managed a 35-31 victory over Leechburg. The win was just what Jeannette needed coming off of a 64-25 loss in their prior game.
Venicia Vignoli was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Adriana Allison was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Riverview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Jeannette, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Riverview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jeannette struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Riverview was able to grind out a solid victory over Jeannette when the teams last played back in January, winning 36-26. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jeannette's Navarah Smith, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
