Basketball Recap: Exeter Takes a Loss

If Exeter was riding high fresh off their 49-23 takedown of Lindsay last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monarchs came up short against the Chowchilla Tribe on Saturday, falling 53-32. The Monarchs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bella Gonsalves was the offensive standout of the matchup as she posted 22 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Blythe Racey was another key player, putting up seven points.

Exeter's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Chowchilla, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, Exeter and Chowchilla will both be playing Mission Oak the next time they take the court. The Monarchs will head out to face the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tribe will play them later in the day, at 5:30 p.m.
