The Branham Bruins came tearing into Friday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Leland with points to spare, taking the game 56-41. Given Branham's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Leland is ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Branham to victory were Gina Shim and Quinn Godfrey. Shim scored 15 points, while Godfrey scored 24 points.
Branham pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Leland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.
Branham will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Evergreen Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Evergreen Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. As for Leland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. Pioneer will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
