Attica has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Fountain Central Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Attica will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Fountain Central is ranked 160th).
Last Monday, Attica narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past South Newton 28-26. The victory was just what Attica needed coming off of a 55-23 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 2 on the offensive boards, a fact Fountain Central proved on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-6 win over Indiana School for the Deaf. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Fountain Central has managed all season.
Fountain Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylee Simko, who scored 11 points. Hannah Prickett was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Attica's record now sits at 4-6. As for Fountain Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Attica came up short against Fountain Central when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 36-27. Can Attica avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
