Baseball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

While Pinecrest Academy put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Covenant Christian Academy. Pinecrest Academy was the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Covenant Christian Academy. The Paladins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

Mathew Sime and Cooper Chupp were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sime pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Chupp tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Sime gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. At the plate, Sime scored three runs and stole a base, while Chupp scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Chupp a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Matthew Mitchell was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mateo Snyder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Pinecrest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .294.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Pinecrest Academy, bringing their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Coming up, Pinecrest Academy will face off against Lanier Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pinecrest Academy is facing Lanier Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Lanier Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Covenant Christian Academy, they will take on Victory Baptist at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give Covenant Christian Academy their first taste of in-conference action this season.
