The Moffat County Bulldogs will challenge the Cedaredge Bruins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Moffat County has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Moffat County lost 22-7 to Aspen on Tuesday.
Moffat County got a big performance out of Josie Terry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Camila Nunez-Verdugo, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cedaredge won against Meeker on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bruins put the hurt on Delta with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Tia Homedew was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Jewel Laliberte was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kiera Stroh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Cedaredge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delta only posted an OBP of .267.
The win was the third in a row for Cedaredge, bringing their record up to 12-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Moffat County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-8.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moffat County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Cedaredge struggles in that department as they've averaged .425. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
