A senior at
Legacy (North Las Vegas), the 5-foot-5 standout set the national record last year with a toss of 176 feet, 8 inches, but in October she was sidelined by a slight tear in her right (throwing) shoulder. She had surgery Jan. 2, her mother, Gloria Allgood, told MaxPreps.
During rehab, she has been throwing the shot put and discus with her left hand. Despite the handicap, she is reaching 100 feet in the discus and 36 feet in the shot put. Nevada does not have the javelin in its track meets, so she has to go out of state to compete in her best event.
Allgood, who is coached by her mother, has signed with the University of Oklahoma.
