Cupertino and Mountain View are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Cupertino Pioneers will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain View Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cupertino didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gunn, but they still walked away with a 34-29 victory.
Meanwhile, Mountain View stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 61-30 win over Gunn. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Mountain View had established a 25 point advantage.
Alana Hernandez was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Kim, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Cupertino's victory ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16. As for Mountain View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Cupertino was dealt a bruising 58-26 loss at the hands of Mountain View when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hernandez, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Now that Cupertino knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
