Eden was dealt a 58-18 loss at the hands of Encinal on Wednesday. Mt. Eden has struggled against Encinal recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Encinal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jazzy Alcantar, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lola Whalen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 21 rebounds.
Mt. Eden has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Encinal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Mt. Eden will be playing in front of their home fans against Hayward at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hayward will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Mt. Eden surely won't give up without a fight. As for Encinal, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Joseph Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. The timing isn't great for St. Joseph Notre Dame: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Encinal has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
